Radford Police Department launches Front Porch Roll Call program

RADFORD – The Radford City Police Department has joined a program used by police departments across the country designed to enhance community policing.

“The Radford City Police Department [has launched] a new initiative that allows you to connect and engage with officers in your neighborhood or at a local business,” the department recently announced. “Have you ever wanted to meet the officers that patrol your neighborhood or wondered how the Radford City Police Department conducts roll call at the beginning of a shift?

“Front Porch Roll Call is an opportunity to hear about the current crime trends that are happening in your neighborhood and have an open conversation where you can voice questions, concerns, or any topics related to law enforcement,” the announcement continues. “Two-way communication between law enforcement and the community is what builds stronger relationships that enhance community policing and we are eager to start this new initiative.”

To host a “Front Porch Roll Call” at a business or a neighborhood location, email policeinfo@radfordva.gov.
