RADFORD – A Radford High school art student has earned two regional gold awards for his artwork and will now be in consideration for national awards and the chance for scholarships.

“Congratulations to sophomore Trent Hollandsworth for receiving two Scholastic Regional Gold Medal awards for his pieces, “POV: SOCIETY” and “Teething,” the school announced. “Trent was also nominated for the American Vision Award.”

“Trent’s pieces will now go on to be judged in consideration for the National Gold Medal award,” the announcement continued. “You can see Trent’s works on display at the Fine Arts Center of the NRV from Thursday, Feb. 16, through Sunday, Mar. 26.”

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers. The Alliance is a nonprofit organization “whose mission is to identify students with exceptional artistic and literary talent and present their remarkable work to the world through the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards” according to the organization’s website. “The Awards give students opportunities for recognition, exhibition, publication, and scholarships. In 2022, students across the United States and Canada entered more than 260,000 original works in 28 different categories of art and writing.”
