RADFORD – Radford’s treasurer and deputy treasurer have been named the top in their field in the state of Virginia.

Janet Jones
Tracy Trump

At the statewide meeting of the elected treasurers of Virginia, the Treasurers Association of Virginia (TAV), held last Friday, June 14 at the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in Arlington, Radford Master Governmental Treasurer Janet Jones and Master Deputy Treasurer Tracy Trump were each given the nod as the best of the best in the Commonwealth.

Jones was awarded “The President’s Award” from the association’s President, Evelyn Powers of Roanoke City. Trump was awarded the “Deputy Treasurer of the Year” award at the same meeting.

“The Radford City Treasurer’s office is a fully accredited Treasurer’s office, and Jones and Trump have achieved Master Governmental Treasurer and Master Deputy Treasurer certifications by the TAV,” according to Radford Public Information Coordinator Jenni Wilder.

“We are honored to have received these awards for service from the association,” Jones said. “I am grateful for the recognition of my peers.”

Jones also said Trump’s work in the Radford office is definitely award-worthy.

“The honor was very well deserved, “ said Jones. “I am very proud of the hard work and leadership of Deputy Tracy Trump in the Treasurer’s Office.”

Jones added her entire staff works together to serve Radford and its residents.

“These are not just individual awards, they show that our entire office staff is dedicated to teamwork and serving the citizens of Radford,” said Jones.

Jones has worked in the treasurer’s office since 1990 and was first elected to office in September 1999.

The mission of the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia is to “enhance professionalism and fiscal leadership among Treasurers and their staff through education, networking, and performance standards,”according to the organization’s website. In addition to the normal duties, the Radford treasurer’s office also serves as a DMV Select office. It is located in the Radford Municipal Building at 619 Second St.
