RADFORD — Radford Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Dan McKinney is stepping down to take a new job. His last day with the Chamber will be Jan. 23, 2026.
” After five years of service, I will be concluding my role as Executive Director of the Radford Chamber of Commerce,” McKinney said Monday. “It has been an honor to serve our members, businesses, and community alongside a dedicated board. Together, we have strengthened partnerships, supported local economic growth, and advanced the Chamber’s mission. I am deeply grateful and humbled for the trust, collaboration, and support I have received and am confident the Chamber will continue to thrive in the years ahead.”
“I have accepted a position with First Community Bank and look forward to continuing to serve businesses in Radford and the New River Valley.”
In an announcement, the Radford Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors said McKinney has been integral to strengthening the organization.
“During his tenure, McKinney played a pivotal role in strengthening the Chamber’s presence and impact within the Radford business community,” it reads.
McKinney’s accomplishments at the Chamber include “expanded member engagement through revitalized programming, networking events, and new business‑to‑business initiatives; strengthened partnerships with the City of Radford, Radford University, New River Community College, and regional economic development organizations; enhanced communication and visibility through improved digital outreach and community engagement efforts; and supporting local businesses with timely resources and advocacy during periods of economic uncertainty.”
“Dan has been a tremendous asset to the Chamber and to the City of Radford,” said the Board of Directors. “His dedication, creativity, and commitment to our business community have positioned the Chamber for continued growth. We are grateful for his service and wish him every success in his next chapter.”
The Board of Directors has initiated the process of conducting a search for the next Executive Director. The Board emphasized its commitment to ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining strong support for Chamber members throughout the process.
“While leadership transitions are never easy, the Chamber remains strong, stable, and focused on its mission,” the Board added. “We are committed to finding a leader who will build on the momentum Dan helped create and continue advancing the economic vitality of Radford.”
Chamber operations, programs, and member services will continue without interruption during the transition period. Additional updates regarding the search process will be shared with members and the community as they become available.
