Radford boys fifth in 2C track, Christiansburg girls second in 3D

After getting the baton from teammate Mekih Martin, Radford’s Thomas Grant gets started on his 4×400 leg. The Bobcats would place second in the Region 2C championship race.
Radford freshman Kyle Martin placed 5th in the 3200 m race at the Region 2C meet.
Radford’s Candice Stone finished 9th in the 200 m dash at the Region 2C championship.

Parker Prioleau took first in the long jump at 23-02 feet, beating a school record, Friday at the Region 2C meet at Christiansburg High School as the Radford boys finished fifth overall in the team competition. 

The Radford girls were ninth as Floyd took the region title with 151 points. Appomattox second with 146.5 and Glenvar third with 118 points. 

Prioleau also had a second-place finish in the 100 meters as the Radford boys were shutout of the top three with Glenvar taking the win with 139.5 points. Dan River took second at 99 points, and Floyd was third at 81 points. Radford finished with 68.5 points. 

Meanwhile in Region 3D track, the Christiansburg girls finished second with the boys’ team in third. William Byrd took the boys title with 130 points. Abingdon was second at 107 and Christiansburg third with 48 points.

Abingdon took the 3D girls’ championship which were run at Cave Spring High School on Saturday. Abingdon tallied 135 points to Christiansburg’s 112 and William Byrd’s 75 points. 

Christiansburg’s Madelyn Moles recorded three first places in the long jump (17-2), high jump (5-2) and pole vault (9-0) and a second place in the 300 meters hurdle. 

Her teammate, Leila Haley also tallied two first places in the triple jump (34-8.25) and 400 meters. She added second place finishes in the 100 meters, 300 meters hurdles and 200 meters. 

Christiansburg’s Lauren Logwood finished second in the pole vault while the girls 4X800 team took second in their event. 

On the boys’ side of the track, Christiansburg’s Donovan Richardson claimed the triple jump region title with a leap of 42-1. Teammates Noah Jones was second in the 800 meters and Ayden Conley second in the discus with a throw of 149-11.

In other region sports, Lydia Pratt followed up Radford’s Regional 2C championship with a 2C singles title.
