For the sixth consecutive year, Radford University has been recognized as a best regional public university by U.S. News & World Report.

In the 2018 edition of U.S. News Best College Rankings, Radford University is ranked at No. 15 in its listing of the Top Public Schools in the South and at No. 43 on its Best Regional Universities (South) list.

Radford advanced in both listings. Last year, Radford ranked No. 17 and No. 47, respectively.

“The continued rise by Radford University in the U.S. News & World Report rankings and others reflects the university’s success in providing the best education opportunities and environment for our students,” said Radford University President Brian O. Hemphill. “We are proud of this additional acknowledgement of the dedication of our faculty and the success of our students while on campus, as well as after graduation. I congratulate the entire Radford family – students, faculty, staff and alumni – who help make Radford the outstanding university that it is.”

The U.S. News & World Report rankings for regional colleges and universities are based on several measures of quality: peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, class sizes, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

Radford has appeared on the publication’s “Best Regional Universities – South” list since 2013. The list was formerly called the “Top Public Master’s Universities in the South” and Radford University was featured on it consecutively from 2006-12.

The U.S. News Best Colleges Rankings announcement follows another announcement by Washington Monthly Magazine that ranked Radford No. 27 on its southeast regional list of “Best Bang for the Buck” institutions. According to the magazine’s annual College Guide and Rankings, Radford University climbed to No. 27 from No. 54 last year in the magazine’s rankings which assess affordability, access and student outcomes.
