Police urge RU students to be safe, vigilant

Friday at approximately ‪11 p.m., Radford City Police responded to the ‪300 block of Third Avenue for a report of a fight in progress.


Upon arrival, officers found an unconscious white male lying on the side of the road. The victim had significant injuries to his mouth and face and regained consciousness prior to EMS arriving on the scene. Witnesses advised a tall male wearing a light colored hat punched the victim in the face. The suspect and several others fled on foot as the victim lay motionless on the ground.

The victim was transported to NRVMC and then later to Roanoke Memorial for treatment.

City and University Police have increased patrol in the area adjacent to Radford University and ask residents in this area to report any suspicious behavior.

Residents in this area are reminded to travel in groups, refrain from excessive alcohol use, and if you see something, say something.
