Allan Carl Poe, of Roanoke, VA, passed away peacefully July 14, 2025. Born Nov. 5, 1944, in New River, Va., Allan lived a life rooted in service, family, and faith.
A proud United States Navy veteran and retired magistrate, Allan was known for his deep dedication to both his country and his community. He was a lifelong member of Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church, where his faith and fellowship were a constant source of strength.
Allan enjoyed life’s simple pleasures: fishing, hunting, playing softball, and most of all, spending time with his family. His kindness, sense of humor, and steady presence will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marion Carl Poe and Joyce Christine Long Poe, as well as his brothers, Vernon, John, and Calvin Poe.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Caroline Jones Poe; his sisters, Glenna Poe, Cathy Nunn, and Mary Cox; his daughters, Marion and Racquel; his grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate Allan’s life was held Saturday, July 19, 2025, at Morgan’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Fairlawn, officiated by Pastor Kim Goddard.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the West End Center for Youth in Roanoke in Allan’s memory.
