At this time, visits to the Animal Care and Adoption Center are limited to one party at a time in the lobby area. Animal areas are not open to the public. To schedule an appointment to meet a prospective pet call (540) 382-5795 or email animalcenter@montgomerycountyva.gov.

Nelly is the Animal Care and Adoption Center’s longest dog resident and has just returned from foster care. This 8-year-old is filled with love. He enjoys lounging on the couch, but he would also happily go on a walk with his human friend. He likes to receive a lot of attention, so he would be best as the only pet in a household. He’s housebroken, knows basic commands and does well with older children. Nelly’s adoption is sponsored by Montgomery County Friends of Animal Care and Control.

Meet Paws, a 2 ½-year-old brown tabby. Paws hasn’t met a stranger and loves affection. She’s friendly with humans as well as other felines. In her short time as a resident at the center, Paws has been sharing space with other cats, so she would likely do well in a home with another cat.
