Pappas, Nicholas John

Nicholas “Nick” John Pappas, 77, passed away Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at his home in Radford.


He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was a U. S. Marine who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. He was retired from Radford University where he was a Political Science professor. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Nicholas and Alvina Chalmers Pappas.

Survivors include his wife of almost 51 years, Pamela Pappas; his son and daughter-in-law, Mark Chalmers and Karen Pappas, of Wardensville, W.Va.; grandchildren, Samantha, John Lucas, Kimberly, Leann and Logan; brother and sister-in-law, Michael James and Hope Pappas, of Arrington; and many other relatives and friends.

The family received friends Friday evening at Central United Methodist Church in Radford. Funeral services followed with Rev. Don Shelor officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at the Greenfield Cemetery in Wardensville, West Virginia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Central UM Church, General Missions, 803 Wadsworth St., Radford, VA 24141, Radford Daily Bread, PO Box 3323, Radford, VA 24143 or the Women’s Resource Center, PO Box 477, Radford, VA 24143.

The Pappas family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory.
