For one Radford High School girls soccer player, Friday’s game was a milestone of sorts. Madison Page scored her 100th goals as the Bobcats downed Auburn 3-1.

Junior Madison Page has scored her 100th goal as a member of the Radford High School girls’ soccer team.

Page, who is only a junior, opened the scoring hitting her record breaker in the first five minutes of the contest.

Her coach, Darrell Gillispie, said Page has upped her game this year and become a team player that might notch as many assists as she does goals.

“She has a great opportunity to play at the next level. I look forward to seeing that and think she will have a great senior year next season,” he said.

Page called number 100 an amazing experience because it was something she had been striving for her whole high school career. She praised others for their support in reaching this plateau.

“If it was not for my coaches, family, and teammates I would not have reached this goal. They encouraged me to be better and work hard every game to accomplish this,” she said.

Page, who was named to the all-state 2A second team last season, is playing her third year on the varsity level after starting soccer when she was four years old through the Radford recreation league.

Her goal on the field for the future is to keep up the intensity and hopefully topping the record for most goals score in a career at Radford High School.

“My goal off the field is to go to college, play soccer and follow through academically with the interior design program at Radford University,” she said.

Radford is now 7-1 on the season. Page’s teammate, Gabby Perez, is ready to break the 100 mark in assists. She currently stands at 99 heading into this week’s action.
