NRV CARES Executive Director, Andi Golusky, says they are grateful for Nesselrod’s partnership with hosting this event.
“It’s a laidback evening,” Golusky said, “listening to tunes and helping to raise money for our children and families in our New River Valley. The support of our community is necessary for us to sustain our services.”
NRV CARES programs include Court Appointed Special Advocates of the New River Valley (CASA), which “recruits and trains volunteers to provide advocacy and support for abused and neglected children. The volunteers serve as the “eyes and ears” of the judge and help children find a safe, happy, healthy forever home” according to the organization. Also, the Parent Education program “provides education and support for parents and caregivers throughout the New River Valley. Working with trained class facilitators, NRV CARES offer three programs: Circle of Parents, Parenting through Separation and Divorce & Parenting Young Children.” The third prong of NRV CARES programming is Community Education, through which NRV CARES “aims to educate the community about the existence of child abuse and its traumatic effects, as well as support children and families in the community.”
