The New Habit was formed when members from numerous bands and a pair of brothers came together for the first time to form the band. Although they were from different bands, bluegrass brought them all together. After signing with Railroad Town Records, they released their first single “Back Of My Hand.” The band is scheduled to release their full length debut album this year. The band includes Brandon Dickerson on banjo and vocals, Josh Marlowe on guitar and vocals, Brent Dickerson on mandolin and vocals, and Aaron Blankenship on bass and vocals.
The Friday Night Dance Band is an old-time band from Callaway, Va. Over the years, the band has played at many different venues including jam sessions at Cannaday’s Store in Boones Mill and the Floyd Country Store and regular fundraising shows at the Floyd Fire Department. The band also received a commendation from the Virginia General Assembly for their contributions to the community of Redwood and town of Rocky Mount, where they played for benefit dances. Current band members include Dolly Maxey, guitar and vocals; Susan Cecil, bass and vocals; Adam Cecil, fiddle; and David Cannaday, banjo and vocals.
