NRCC Concert Series presents free concert today in Dublin

The music of Bluegrass Kinsmen and Gap Civil will be featured during New River Community College’s Concert Series event today, Saturday, Dec. 10, 2022. 

Music will begin at 6 p.m. in 117 Edwards Hall at NRCC in Dublin.

Bluegrass Kinsmen is a bluegrass band from Southwest Virginia that was formed in 1971. They perform a variety of bluegrass music that includes traditional, folk. and gospel. Band leader Ebby sings harmony and plays banjo and is accomplished on guitar, mandolin, and fiddle as well. Band members also include his wife, Teresa, who sings lead and harmony, and other guest musicians.

Gap Civil is an Appalachian mountain music band built on its motto of honor and innovation. The band pays homage to the mountain traditions that have shaped and rooted their music, and they take pride in innovative and exciting original songs, tunes, and arrangements. The band blends old time, country, bluegrass, and Americana.

Gap Civil was formed in 2017, is based in Sparta, NC and features Chris Johnson on banjo and bass, Lucas Pasley on fiddle and vocals, and Kyle Dean Smith on bass and lead guitar.

The doors open at 5 p.m. for the show. Admission is free; however, donations will be accepted to help offset the musicians’ travel expenses
