NAACP meeting Sept. 23

The September General Body Meeting of the Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County Branch of the NAACP will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Old Hill School Community Center, formerly known as the Christiansburg Community Center (570 N High St., Christiansburg).

The CREDO presentation will be by Brian Cannon of One Virginia 2021 about non-partisan re-districting. Please join us–all are welcome.

Mt. Tabor Ruritan seeks volunteers for Apple Butter Making Days

There will be two apple butter makings. On the afternoons of Wednesdays, Sept. 26 and Oct. 3, the apples are cut at our picnic shelter (below Slusser’s Chapel parking lot).

The cooking is done on Fridays, Sept. 28 and Oct. 5 at the cannery in Wytheville. Cooking starts around 6 a.m. and finishes around 4 or 5 p.m.

We are always looking for volunteer help for any amount of time on any of these four days.

Virginia Tech Trumpet Festival 2018, Sept. 28-30

Virginia Tech School of Performing Arts presents the third annual Virginia Tech Trumpet Festival 2018 from Sept. 28-30.

Featured guest artist Allen Vizzutti will play on Friday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m. in the Squires Haymarket Theatre.

At 4 p.m. on Sept. 29, Allen Vizzutti, Jason Crafton, James Bean, and 2017

Bachelder Scholarship recipient Chris Thomas will play and on Sept. 30, Adam Gordon, on the baroque trumpet, an instrument that has no valves.

NAACP

The Montgomery County-Radford City-Floyd County Branch of the NAACP will present its 43rd Freedom Fund Banquet at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 13 at the Inn at Virginia Tech. The doors open at 5p.m.

The speaker will be Tiffany Dean Loftin, National Director of the NAACP Youth & College Division.

Please purchase tickets by Oct. 3, $50 for adults and $25 for youth 21 years old and younger. Tickets can be purchased from branch officers or on-line at: www.mrfnaacp.org.
