Gilbert Meadows (left) works the deep fryer as Joe Webb waits to bring another batch of fish inside the church to sell. New Mount Olive United Methodist Church sold 120 pounds of fish during its first fry of the year on Saturday.
Odell Palmer breads the fish with New Mount Olive’s “secret recipe.” The church hosts multiple fish fry events in the spring and summer months.
Local residents (from left) Donna Nickels, Buddy Bishop and Francene Jenkins take a quick break from their fish dinners. Nickels and Jenkins said they try to attend as many of the fish fry events as possible.
