Downey Dog Yoga is a quaint little yoga studio located on Downey Street in Radford.
The studio opened its doors in November 2014. Kim Pugh and partner set out to create a yoga community.
From the very beginning the studio was no stranger to struggle. Over the last few years, Kim has developed a very loyal yoga community. Following her partner’s departure, she vowed to keep the doors open knowing the importance of yoga and what it brings to the surrounding area.
Recently following a series of thefts and a vandalism, which resulted in a broken window, Downey Dog Yoga instructors and clients have renewed their commitment to continue efforts serving the community.
Such efforts as; Community Yoga every Saturday at 10 a.m., and special events such as Free Kids Yoga, are just a couple of examples of Downey Dogs pledge to the community and local yogis.
Downey Dog features many different types of yoga classes that meet the needs of beginner to advanced students. An exciting new addition to the studio is a monthly themed window display.
This month’s display features Bones, Downey Dogs’ resident positionable skeleton, performing various yoga poses. Novembers’ window display is guaranteed to be special because it is Downey Dog’s birthday.
For many of the clients and instructors, Downey Dog is home, and a place (as Kim puts it) “to practice peace.”
Therefore, with Kim’s leadership Downey Dog remains dedicated to all those young and old seeking yoga and its impact on health and wellbeing.
