RADFORD – Five mystery authors will be hosting a panel discussion at the Radford Public Library next weekend.
Authors Mindy Quigley, Katharine Schellman, Krista Davis, Mollie Ann Cox, and Sarah Warburton will all be appearing at the library in person Saturday, June 22 at 3 p.m. at Radford Public Library and will “offer insight into the world of mystery writing and publishing. Questions are encouraged,” according to RPL.
The event is free and open to the public. The authors will have their books available for purchase and light refreshments will be available.
“We can’t believe we have so many fabulous mystery authors together at one time,” the library announced. “Please save the date and plan to join us at RPL for a Mystery Author Panel Discussion.”
Mindy Quigley is the author of two cozy mystery series: the Deep Dish Mysteries and the Mount Moriah Mysteries. Her short stories have won awards, including the 2018 Artemis Journal/Lightbringer Prize. Her non-writing career has been stranger than fiction, taking her from the US to the UK, where she worked as the personal assistant to the scientist who cloned Dolly the sheep, and as project manager for a research clinic founded by the author J.K. Rowling. She lives in Virginia with her Civil War history professor husband and their children.
New York Times bestselling mystery author Krista Davis writes three mystery series: the Domestic Diva Mysteries; the Paws & Claws Mysteries; and the Pen & Ink Mysteries. Davis resided in Northern Virginia for many years and lived for a time in Old Town, Alexandria. Today she lives with an assortment of dogs and cats in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
Katharine Schellman is a former actor and one-time political consultant. These days, she writes the Lily Adler Mysteries (Crooked Lane Books) and the Nightingale Mysteries (Minotaur/St. Martin’s Press). Her books, which reviewers have praised as “worthy of Agatha Christie or Rex Stout” (Library Journal, starred review), have received multiple accolades, including being named a Library Journal Best Crime Fiction of 2022, a Suspense Magazine Best Book of 2020, and a New York Times editor’s pick in June 2022. Schellman lives and writes in the mountains of Virginia in the company of her husband, children, and the many houseplants she keeps accidentally murdering.
Mollie Ann Cox is the author of several popular mystery series, also writing under the pen name Maggie Blackburn. Her books have been selected as finalists for an Agatha Award and a Daphne du Maurier Award and as a Top 10 Beach Reads by Woman’s World. The Lace Widow is the first time she’s combined her passion for history and mystery. She makes her home at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, Va.
Sarah D. Warburton lives in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. For ten years she was the lead writer for the monthly magazine UpClose. She has studied writing with Pam Houston at the Taos Writers Workshop and with Justin Cronin in Houston. Her work has appeared in the Southern Arts Journal, Women on Writing, Embark Literary Magazine, and Oyster River Pages. Her first novel, “Once Two Sisters”, was a Publishers Weekly pick of the week, a Crimereads recommended debut, and a PopSugar featured title. Her second novel, “You Can Never Tell”, was published August 2021 by Crooked Lane Books.
