Ruth S. Moore 74, of Christiansburg, went to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning, April 10, 2018 with her beloved family by her side. She was born in Blacksburg on December 2, 1943 to the late Edward McKinley and Helen C. Shepherd.

She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Martha Howard, sisters, Nita (Eunice) Burk, Constants Sprandlin, and Louise Sarver; brothers, Marshall and Archie Shepherd.

She is survived by her son, Allen Moore (April Fisher); grandchildren, Derrick Moore (Jennifer), Brittany Fisher, Paige Fisher boyfriend (Alex), Ethan Fisher fiancee (Hannah), Brandy Palmer (Mike), Devan Howard, Jonathan Howard (Emily); great grandchildren, Kurry and Sage Palmer, Kevin Howard, Jacob and Natalee Howard; brothers, Everett Shepherd (Darlene), Jack Shepherd (Dorothy) and Harvey Shepherd (Brenda); sisters, Frances Flores (Marcelo) and Claudine Henderson (Buzz). Ruth was a very loving, kind, and caring mother/grandmother.

She was a very loved person from others than her family. She loved with toughness and honesty that was from the bottom of her heart. She moved in with her parents and became their caretaker for them; while doing so, she managed to work 40 hours a week at AT&T and raising/worrying after two free-spirited children.

She loved her family more than anyone of us could image. Special thanks to April Fisher who took great care of Ruth. Thank you April Fisher! Ruth had a lot of nieces and nephews and special friends that she loved dearly. Thanks to all of you for the love you have shown my mom and family.

She also wanted to thank her doctors, Solomon, White, Hicks, Stoeckle, Tuono, and Goldschmidt along with the nurses on the 2nd floor at MRH.

Memorial services were conducted Friday, April 13, 2018 in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Tibbs officiating. Per Ruth’s request please wear casual clothing to her service. The family received friends from 2 to 3 pm before the service at McCoy Funeral Home.
