Helen Genevieve Huff McKinnie, 85, passed away with her family by her side, Friday, Jan. 5, 2018 at her home in Radford. She was born Jan. 20, 1932 in Cumberland, Maryland, the eldest of six children of Richard and Frances Huff.


In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her loving husband of 55 years, Owen McKinnie; and brothers, Richard Huff and Llewellyn Huff.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Camille Bishop and husband Greg, Beth Back and husband Jeff, and Owen McKinnie and wife Kim; grandchildren, Molly Osterbind and Grant Back; great grandchildren, Eli Back and Nora Osterbind; sisters, Patricia Robey, Christine Luckenbaugh, and Sue Huff; and several nieces and nephews.

Helen graduated in 1953 from Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in Cumberland, Md. She was a member of the Radford Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and appreciation to her special caregivers for their loving care over the years Lynn, Gail and Connie. A very special thank you to Colleen, Sabrina and Tammy of Good Samaritan Hospice.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Watchtower Bible & Tract Society of New York, 900 Red Mill Road, Wallkill, NY 12589 or Good Samaritan Hospice, 1160 Moose Drive, Christiansburg, VA 24073.

The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018 at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services will begin at 1 p.m. with Mr. Bobby Hatcher officiating. Entombment will be private.

The McKinnie family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford, Virginia.
