Phyllis Humphries McCauley, 91, went to be with her Lord Friday, Aug. 29, 2025, at her home in Radford. She and her husband resided in Radford for over 68 years. Born Feb. 25, 1934, Phyllis graduated from Covington High School and attended nursing school at Grace Hospital in Richmond. Blueford and Phyllis moved to Radford, and she began working at Radford Community Hospital. She later went to work as an office nurse for Dr. Amonette. Phyllis attended Radford Presbyterian Church for 20 years until she moved to First Baptist Church for the remainder of her 40 years of life. During that time, she taught nursing for Radford City Schools. Phyllis was heavily involved with Emmaus, Bible Study Group, and volunteering for hospice.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia Pritt; her beloved husband, Blueford Edgar McCauley; daughter, Jennifer M. Lemon; grandson, Jonathan Lewis; and her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Lemon Faircloth.
Survivors include her daughter, Beverly McCauley Lewis; granddaughter, Amanda Cary (Jamie); grandson, E-Ray Lemon (Lindsey); seven great-grandchildren; sister, Ann Glover (Kin); and many other relatives and friends.
Phyllis lived a life of service to others and will be loved and remembered by all who knew her. The family would like to thank ACG Hospice and the Love by Hope team for the assistance of her care.
The family received friends Friday, Sept. 5, 2025, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Funeral services followed with Todd Millsaps officiating. Interment followed in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
