Martha Courtney Micou Patterson

Martha Courtney Micou Patterson died Mar. 27, 2025. Martha was a graduate of Dublin High School and Emory & Henry college. She was an elementary school teacher in Fairlawn and was a member of the Virginia Retired Teachers Association. Martha was also very active in the United Methodist Women’s organization. She was a homemaker and loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. For many years she provided leadership in many church positions, such as children’s choirs. Some of her many loves and interests include gardening, reading books and spending time with her family including the many dogs she has cared for over the years.

She was preceded in death by her parents William Davis Micou and Evelyn Courtney King Micou; and brother, William Roger Micou.

Survivors include her loving husband, Richard Jackson Patterson, Sr.; children, Jennifer Courtney Patterson Crittenden and husband David Eugene Crittenden, of Louisville, Kentucky, and Richard Jackson Patterson, Jr. of Sylvatus, Va.; six grandchildren, Ashley Lauren Crittenden Tackett and husband Trent Morgan Tackett of Louisville, Andrew Bradley Crittenden, William Thomas Crittenden, and Courtney Alexis Crittenden, all of Louisville, Dylan Riley Patterson of Draper, and Teagan Courtney Patterson of Fairlawn; three great grandchildren, Sophia Grace Tackett, Lucas Gabriel Tackett, and Levi Brooks Tackett, all of Louisville; nephew, Paul Micou; and niece, Deb Micou Quillinan.

Services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that gifts be made to the Memorial Fund of the Dublin United Methodist Church, PO Box 577, Dublin, Virginia 24084.

The Patterson family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
