BLACKSBURG – The YMCA at Virginia Tech, in partnership with the Blacksburg Junior Women’s Club and the members of Chi Delta Alpha, Virginia Tech’s first service sorority, is proud to announce the return of the Cinderella & Prince Charming Boutique.

This collaborative community initiative ensures that all teens can enjoy a magical and affordable prom experience.

The boutique provides high school students with access to new and gently used formal wear, shoes, and accessories for both young men and young women. With prom and other formal events often creating financial barriers for families, the boutique is designed to help ensure that every student who wants to attend has the opportunity to do so.

“Prom is a meaningful milestone for many teens, and we believe cost should never be the reason someone misses out,” said Laureen Blakemore, Director of Community Engagement. “Our boutique offers a wide range of styles and sizes, and volunteers are available to help each guest find just the right outfit.”

The Blacksburg Junior Women’s Club shares the YMCA’s commitment to accessibility and youth empowerment. “This project reflects our mission perfectly,” said a representative. “It’s a joy to help students who might otherwise struggle with the expense of formalwear.”

The YMCA also recognizes Chi Delta Alpha as a key partner in delivering this event. Members assist in organizing, welcoming participants, providing styling support, and ensuring the boutique runs smoothly. Their ongoing service commitment continues to enhance the experience for local teens.

Location: The Y Center, Emily Stewart Event Room, 1000 N. Main St., Blacksburg. No appointment required.

Event Dates: Fri., Feb. 27 – 3-6 p.m.; Sat., Feb. 28 – 10 a.m.– 2:30 p.m.; Fri., Mar. 27 – 3-6 p.m.; Sat., Mar. 28 – 10 a.m.– 2:30 p.m.; Fri., April 10 – 3-6 p.m.; and Sat., April 11 – – 10 a.m.– 2:30 p.m.

The Cinderella & Prince Charming Boutique promises a warm, supportive environment, a variety of clothing options, and a commitment to ensuring that every teen leaves prepared for their special night. High school students shopping on a budget are invited to attend the boutique. Let us help make your prom dreams come true!
