Several local collegiate rugby athletes earned the privilege of participating in the National Collegiate Rugby Championship in Austin, Texas Jan. 6-7, 2024. The Mid-Atlantic team consisted of athletes from Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia. Those athletes included Zane Rupe (Radford High School graduate) of Emory & Henry College, and from Virginia Tech: Hunter Dsnsei, Brandon Eng, Matthew Heulsman, and Lucas Bichy. Teams from across the country were divided into eight regions with Great Lakes claiming the championship.
