More than 2,000 people attended the Christiansburg Lions Club Holiday Christmas Craft Show at the beginning of December at the rec center.

Nearly 2,200 attended the 27th Annual Christiansburg Lions Club Holiday Christmas Craft Show earlier this month. In an announcement, the club thanks everyone who made the event a success.

“We had a great time with all of the crafters and all those who came out to buy crafts and to support our Lions Club!” Ol’ Lion Doug Kanney, president of the club wrote. “It is always an exciting time for us, as we prepare, carry out and give folks an opportunity to buy Christmas presents. The crafters have such wonderful items for sale, with fair and reasonable prices and a good time to enjoy the company of community folks.”

One hundred and forty-five crafters offered an assortment of handmade crafts and hands-on displays

“It was a good day for fun and fellowship,” Kanney said.

Local business and individuals sponsor the craft show for which the club is grateful he said.

“We make note of their contribution during the Craft Show and through publicity. This is our way to let them know how much we appreciate their support!

One of the highlights wrote Kanney, was the “Snack Bar” serving

breakfast to those who get an early start on the day, and a luncheon and later day meal, for crafters and visitors.

One comment of particular note by a crafter was that “the hotdogs were the best they had ever eaten!” Now that is some compliment!

A number of local businesses including Pizza Inn, Papa Johns, Little Caesars, Amelia’s, Hardee’s, Wal-Mart, Food Lion and Kroger donated to the Snack Bar.

“We know how hungry crafters and shoppers can be with all of their activities during the day. It is nice to have a reputation for the best hotdogs in the area!” Kanny wrote. “Again, our 27th year for the Annual Lions Club Holiday Christmas Craft Show was a wonderful time and great success and we are grateful for those who came out to support our Craft Show and to help us serve the community, the New River Valley and the world around us through our International Lions Clubs.

We couldn’t do our work and live up to our Motto:”WE SERVE!” without the fine people who help us help others! Thanks to all of our crafters and shoppers.”
