Savannah Felgemacher, a 6-foot-3 forward from Church Hill, Tenn., has joined the Radford women’s basketball team after competing for James Madison of Colonial Athletic Association the last two seasons.

Felgemacher will sit out the 2017-18 season per NCAA requirements and will have two years of eligibility remaining beginning in 2018-19.

“We are thrilled to announce that Savannah will be joining our basketball program this summer. When we heard that she was leaving JMU, we knew immediately that she would be someone that we would love to have in our program,” said head coach Mike McGuire. “Savannah has been forthcoming with her thought process and we are really excited about her joining our program. Savannah will immediately add versatility, skill, and athleticism to our team.”

In two seasons at James Madison, Felgemacher appeared in 56 games, earning four starts, including a start against Radford in the 2017 WNIT First Round matchup. In the matchup, Felgemacher finished with 11 points and 14 rebounds for her third career double-double.

Felgemacher totaled 173 points (3.1 ppg) and 206 rebounds (3.7) in her time as a Duke, while averaging 11.6 minutes per game. In her collegiate debut against Longwood (Nov. 15, 2015), Felgemacher became the first freshman under former under head coach Kenny Brooks to notch a double-double in a season opener (17 points, 12 rebounds).

“She runs the floor extremely well and is a relentless, instinctive rebounder. I am excited she will have this academic year to get acclimated to Radford University, our program and the Big South Conference,” McGuire added. “We will expect her to be ready to go for the 2018-19 season.”

Radford’s second transfer from the state of Tennessee (Gaby Gilmore, 2014-16) in the McGuire era, Felgemacher was an all-county player, averaging 15.0 ppg during her prep career.

Felgemacher joins previously-announced incoming freshmen Tina Lindenfeld and Laney Corbin in McGuire’s 2017 class.
