Jack Wynn

Jack Wynn, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Blacksburg on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2022 surrounded by loving family.

Jack was born April 5, 1945, in Gilmer, Texas, and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He was a Roanoke Police officer and a retired Norfolk Southern Police Detective.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, B.B. and Jewel Evelyn (Adams) Wynn; his stepmother, Eva Wynn; his half-sister and brother-in-law, Winnie “Tootie” and Joe Miller; and his brother-in-law, Hubert Gravley.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Joyce (Kirk); a sister, Norene Gravley, of Longview, Texas; a brother, Byron, and wife, Margie Wynn of Conroe, Texas; a daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Philip, and a granddaughter, Faith Cooper, of Harrison, Tenn.; a step-grandson and his wife, Christopher and Laura Cooper, of Deer Park, Ohio; a son, Jay, and grandsons Jack and Jared Wynn of Blacksburg; a daughter, Jessica, and a grandson, Braydon, and a granddaughter, Ashlee Mangrum of Longview, Texas.

A celebration of life will be held at Belmont Christian Church, 1500 Peppers Ferry Rd. Christiansburg, on Saturday, March 5 at 1 p.m. with family visitation one hour before. Entombment will be held at Memorial Gardens at 3 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UVA Cancer Center in honor of Jack Wynn and Dr. Mike Williams. Mail donations to: UVA Division of Hematology & Oncology, Lymphoma Research fund ℅ Dr. Michael Williams, Box 800716  UVA Cancer Center 1300 JPA, Charlottesville, VA 22908.
