It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to a cherished member of our Virginia Tech Athletics family, Don Vaughn.

His passing has left a void that cannot be filled, as his presence touched the lives of many in profound ways. Don Vaughn, a beloved colleague, friend, and mentor, passed away Monday afternoon.
Don’s contributions extended far beyond his professional endeavors. For nearly 30 years, he demonstrated unparalleled dedication, passion, and expertise as part of our game operations team. His commitment to excellence was evident in every project he undertook, inspiring those around him to strive for greatness. Don’s legacy will continue to shape our athletics department for years to come.
Beyond his professional achievements, Don was known for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support for others. He had a rare gift for making everyone feel valued and heard, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Whether offering words of encouragement or lending a helping hand, Don’s compassion knew no bounds.
Those who were fortunate enough to call Don a friend knew him as someone who brought joy and laughter wherever he went. His infectious smile and sense of humor could brighten even the darkest of days.
Don’s passing leaves behind a profound sense of loss, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. As we mourn his absence, let us also celebrate the remarkable life he lived and the countless lives he touched along the way. Though he may be gone, his spirit will continue to inspire us to live with purpose, kindness, and compassion.
In honoring Don’s memory, let us strive to emulate the qualities that made him so beloved—a dedication to excellence, a commitment to kindness, and a genuine love for others.
Rest in peace, “Hokie Don.” You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
