Hurst will do more for education

The Virginia Education Association (VEA) has endorsed Joseph Yost due to his voting record. If elected, (a) Chris Hurst will become eligible for, and undoubtedly will receive, the endorsement of the VEA, and (b) Chris will do MUCH MORE for education in Southwest Virginia.

Chris Hurst will fight for higher salaries for teachers. Chris will fight to reduce the burden of SOLs. Chris will fight for full-time public kindergarten throughout Virginia, unlike Republicans who recently defeated a bill to do that.

Chris will fight to expand the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI) for at-risk four-year-olds, unlike Republicans who caused a reduction in the number of children enrolled in VPI this year.

Chris Hurst will fight against the Republican proposal to eliminate the tax deduction for unreimbursed school supplies purchased by teachers. Chris will fight for a change in the state funding formula for education, so that Southwest Virginia will receive its fair share of educational funds (in contrast to the despicable lie in Yost’s disgusting, shameful and negative ad on TV).

For the sake of education, Southwest Virginia needs Chris Hurst in the House of Delegates (District 12).

Raymond Plaut,

Blacksburg
