Radford High School’s Michael Hill will continue his soccer career at Randolph-Macon. Friday, he signed a letter of intent to play in Ashland.

He said he chose Macon because they have had a very successful soccer program in the past along with a good business program, which he plans to major in.

Looking back over his career at RHS, Hill admits he has learned in order to be successful , you have to work hard.

“My long-term goal on the field is to get a lot of playing time and represent Randolph Macon well,” Hill said.  “My long-term goal off the field is to have a successful career and be financially sound.”

He started playing soccer at the age of five and then moved up to travel soccer.

At the age of 14, he represented the United States at the Youth World Cup in Gothenburg, Sweden with the Roanoke Star.

Randolph-Macon College is listed among U.S. News & World Report’s 150 best national liberal arts colleges and is a member of the NCAA Div. III Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

The men’s soccer team finished the 2017 campaign, which was one of its most successful in recent history, at 14-3-1 and 6-2-1 in ODAC play. Randolph-Macon was the #4 seed in the ODAC Tournament, getting to host a quarterfinal match against Hampden-Sydney. The Yellow Jackets beat the Tigers 2-1 in a hard-fought game before being defeated by Lynchburg 3-2 in a semifinal match and finished 10th in the South Atlantic Region poll.

The team has no seniors on this year’s team and will bring its entire roster back next season.
