Game notes: Auburn takes down Eastern Montgomery

Kaylen Mitcham collected four hits in four at bats, as Auburn defeated Eastern Montgomery 17-1 this past week on the softball field.

Mitcham doubled in the third inning, singled in the fourth inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the second inning.
Auburn added to their early lead in the bottom of the second inning after Leah Wimmer flew out, Faith Wilson singled down the right field line, and Johnnie Gaynor singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.
Auburn scored five runs on four hits in the bottom of the third inning. Mitcham doubled, scoring one run, Sophia Hambrick doubled, scoring two runs, an error scored one run, and Kaylee Ramrattan grounded out, scoring one run.
The Eagles scored eight runs on 10 hits in the bottom of the fourth inning. Addison Earley doubled, scoring one run, Mitcham singled, scoring two runs, Ramrattan singled, scoring one run, Hope Wilson singled, scoring two runs, Mullins singled, scoring one run, and Mitcham singled, scoring one run.
Wilson earned the win for Auburn, giving up six hits and one run over five innings, striking out four and walking two. Miller took the loss for Eastern Montgomery. The righty went four innings, allowing 17 runs (15 earned) on 18 hits, striking out three and walking two.
Auburn amassed 18 hits in the game. Mullins, Earley, Gaynor, and Hambrick each collected multiple hits. Mullins and Gaynor each stole multiple bases for Auburn, stole seven bases in the game.
Dixie Lewis led Eastern Montgomery with one run batted in. The outfielder went 1-for-3 on the day. Katie Salyer had two hits in two at bats.

Blacksburg shuts out PH 2-0

The Blacksburg boys soccer team picked up a first half goal by Craig Huxtable on a penalty kick, and then a second half goal in the 42nd minute (second minute of the second half) by Brendan Osebre assisted by Craig Huxtable.

Goalkeepers Hudson Snyder had five saves for Patrick Henry, and Nathan Pratt had six saves for Blacksburg in the shutout.

Patrick Henry is 1-1-1 and Blacksburg is 2-0 thus far on the season.
