The Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery is pleased to announce its newest gallery exhibit, “Four Women; Four Visions.” The new exhibit features paintings and photography by four talented women from the New River Valley: Jeannie Fender, Teresa Regil, Joyce Sims and Linda Waggaman. There will be a reception for the show from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.
Jeannie Fender is a retired educator who is constantly inspired by the images and colors around her. She paints vivid images, including spectacular landscapes. Teresa Regil, a pediatric dentist, began painting portraits in 2009 and is inspired by her love of nature and children.
Joyce Sims, a native of the NRV, is well known for skillful pictures of animals. She is inspired by her love of nature and is almost always with her camera. Linda Waggaman, a retired educator, was inspired to take up photography by memories of her father. She tries to find the unusual and the beautiful in ordinary things around her and loves taking pictures of all kinds of people, especially children.
“Four Women; Four Visions” shows the perspectives of four women who all have different backgrounds, inspirations, points of view–but who all now call the NRV home and want to help their community. In that spirit, the four women are all contributing one of their works for a silent auction. The highest bidders for the pieces will be declared at 7:00 pm with all the proceeds going to benefit the Glencoe Mansion, Museum and Gallery.
Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no admission charge. The exhibit will be on display through the end of May.
