High school football is 45 days out, and schools in Montgomery County and Radford have released their schedule.
Radford will open the season with a benefit game at home on August 21 against Christiansburg and will spend the first four games on the road of the regular season.
The road challenge includes an August 28 game at George Wythe, September 4 at Giles, September 18 at Galax and September 26 at James River.
3A powerhouse William Byrd will make a trip to Radford on October 1, and then the Cats will play at Patrick County on October 9.
Glenvar will play at Radford on October 16, and then there is a trip to Hillsville to play Carroll County on October 23.
Floyd will play at Radford on October 30 and Martinsville in town for the final November 6 contest.
Christiansburg will host a Huckleberry Jamboree on August 14 and then travel to Radford for the August 21 benefit game.
The schedule includes a August 28 trip to Carroll County and a September 4 game at home against Abingdon. The Blue Demons will travel to William Byrd on September 11 and be back home against regional for Lord Botetourt on September 18.
Christiansburg’s schedule will include an open date on September 25 and then a trip on October 2 to Pulaski County.
Patrick Henry will be Christiansburg’s Homecoming opponent on October 9 and then host Hidden Valley on October 16.
Blacksburg will come to Christiansburg on October 23, and then the team will hit the road for the final two games against Cave Spring and Salem.
Auburn will host a Benefit game on August 21 against Floyd and then jumpstart the season with a road game on August 28 at James River.
Two straight home games dot the schedule with Smith Mt. Lake Christian on September 4 and September 11 Ft. Chiswell.
Auburn will travel to Castlewood on September 18 and then to cross-county rival Eastern Montgomery on September 25. Giles will travel to Riner to face Auburn on October 1 and then Northwood will be Auburn’s Homecoming game on October 9.
The team will then travel to George Wythe for a Mt. Empire District matchup on October 16. Auburn’s open date is October 23 with an away game the next week at Grayson County.
Galax will finish the season in Riner on October 30.
Eastern Montgomery will play in a jamboree in Galax on August 15 and then play Castlewood at home August 21 for a benefit game.
Holston will jump start Eastern Montgomery’s season with a game in Elliston on August 28.
A trip to Rural Retreat will follow on September 4, and one to Northwood on September 11.
Montcalm West Virginia will travel to Eastern Montgomery on September 18, and Auburn will be at Eastern Montgomery the following week as part of the “Golden Helmet” game.
October opens with a road game at Bland before the team returns home for October 9 game against Craig County. But it’s back on the road for October 16 game at Bath County.
Narrows will travel to Eastern Montgomery for a October 23 game, and the Mustangs will finish the season on November 6 at Parry McCluer.
Blacksburg will host Glenvar on August 21 for Benefit game and then Giles on August 28.
September 4 means a trip to James River, and then back home for September 11 game versus Floyd.
Blacksburg will jump back on the road for a September 18 game at Altavista.
Salem will be Blacksburg’s Homecoming game on September 25 and then Cave Spring will be at Bill Brown Stadium on October 1.
Hidden Valley will host the Bruins on October 9, and then Pulaski will travel to Blacksburg on October 16. The Battle of Burgs will continue with a October 23 game in Christiansburg. Blacksburg will have an open date on October 30 and then travel to Patrick Henry on November 6.
