One man was killed and a USPS mail carrier was injured after a Saturday crash on Alleghany Spring Road.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred at approximately 10 a.m. on the 2200 block of Alleghany Spring Rd. when the driver of a Jeep Cherokee “ran off of the roadway and impacted a mail delivery vehicle (USPS).”
“Once fire and rescue units arrived on scene it was determined that the driver of the Jeep Cherokee, identified as James Gordon Norwood of Elliston, was deceased at the time of the collision,” according to MCSO. “The driver of the mail delivery vehicle was transported to New River Valley Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.”
