Duty, Debra Sue Carter

Debra Sue Carter Duty, age 59, of Blacksburg died, Sunday, March 19, 2017, at Lewis Gale Hospital-Montgomery.


She was born in Christiansburg on Nov. 30, 1957 to the late Sylvester and Edith Bolt Carter. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack Duty.

She worked at Virginia Tech for over 27 years. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Duty; son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Kelly Duty; grandchildren, Peyton, Owen and Jayden Duty; sister, Lois Covey; brothers and sister-in-law, Jerry and Kathy Carter, Chunk Carter, Tommy Carter and Neil Carter; special niece, Becky Carter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, March 23, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jimmie Lee Price officiating. Interment will follow in the North Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday evening at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W. in Blacksburg.
