Douglas Arwood Altizer, 83, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2022, at his home in Fairlawn.
He was a member of the Pulaski Church of Christ and retired after 40 years with the Virginia State Police. He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Nobie Altizer, and his sister, Carolyn Hines.
Doug is survived by his wife of 62 years, Jean Altizer; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Scott Strickland of Salem; a son, Woody Altizer of Radford; grandchildren Mindi (Nic) Bodin, Chase Altizer, Cara Altizer, Lance Strickland, Neil Strickland, and Cassie (Jeff) Snell; great-grandchildren Harper Bodin and Everett Snell; and many other relatives and friends.
The family received friends on Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Mullins Funeral Home in Radford. Interment with full military honors followed in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin.
