Dottie C. (Cobb) Couick-Newman, 78, of Amissville passed away peacefully on June 3, 2020, at the Commonwealth Senior Living at Radford after a long and courageous battle with lung and kidney cancer.

She was born February 28, 1942, in Poca, WV, to the late Carl O. Cobb and Mabel C. Landers Cobb. A coal miner’s daughter with nine brothers and sisters, Dottie grew up with her siblings learning how to sew, cook, garden and dance, things she remained passionate about throughout her life. After graduating high school, she took the brave journey from West Virginia and moved to Washington, D.C., to work at the White House. She retired from the Department of Defense at Vint Hill Farms Station and spent the remainder of her life enjoying things she loved such as fishing, bowling, traveling, basket weaving, sewing, painting, gardening and dancing. She was talented beyond measure. With an enormous zest for life accompanied by an infectious smile, she always lit up the room.

She is survived by her son, John (Cindy) Couick; daughter Sheree (Joe) LaCasse; and daughter Stephanie Baron; seven grandchildren: Elizabeth Lanning, Joshua Couick, Nathan Couick, Alexander Couick, Benjamin LaCasse, Stephen LaCasse and Brian LaCasse; and four great-grandchildren: Ethan, Christopher, Victoria and Skylar; her sisters, Roberta Hughes, Wilma Harrison, Linda Paruscio and Donna Whited and a brother, Larry Cobb.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two loving husbands, Philip L. Couick and J.D. Newman; a sister, Freda (Dimple) Kessel; and three brothers: Carl, Jr., Gary and Russell Cobb.

The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the staff at the Commonwealth Senior Living at Radford; Intrepid Hospice Care and Carilion Medical Center of Radford for their love and care.

A graveside ceremony will be held at the Culpeper National Cemetery followed by a celebration of life at a later date. Family and Friends will be notified.

The Couick-Newman family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
