College students give back to their community

The Sigma Pi fraternity is no longer affiliated with Radford University, but its members are still out and about giving back to their local community, and with that comes misleading assumptions about what our fraternity is all about. Chris Ferguson, community service chair for the fraternity, said recently “several of my brothers along with myself drove up to Salem and volunteered with the Feeding America organization to help with feeding the homeless.”

“My fraternity brothers and I enjoy giving back to the community and are striving to participate in as many community service events as possible throughout the year,”said Ferguson. “We would like to get the word out so the community knows more about our organization. We’re planning on hosting a winter coat drive next month before thanksgiving for the lesser fortunate in the community who can’t afford winter jackets. We’re really just trying to get the message out there that Sigma Pi is trying to turn around our reputation and make the community happy to have us as an operating organization.”
