RADFORD – The City of Radford and Radford University are co-hosting a new street festival event downtown this August.

Radford Community Fest is set to take place Saturday, Aug. 24, 2024 on East Main Street, spanning from Third Avenue to Tyler Avenue, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Vendor spots are now available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Radford Community Fest 2024 is planned as a street festival with the portion of East Main Street closed to maximize the fun. The day will be filled with a wide array of activities and attractions. Attendees can look forward to numerous vendors, food trucks, a beer garden, live music, and street performers. The University’s Fraternity and Sorority Life office will be hosting a Kid’s Zone, which will include arts and crafts, bounce houses, and games, ensuring fun for the whole family. Best of all, there is no admission fee, making this a free event for all citizens, students, employees, family members, and visitors.

“The new Community Fest being launched this year is a wonderful way to help welcome our new student residents to Radford and to showcase our downtown district allowing them to get to know what if there and for the businesses to get to meet them,” said Radford Mayor David Horton. “This is an outstanding partnership between the city and the university for the benefit of all.”

“Radford University is excited to partner with the City of Radford to co-host the inaugural Radford Community Fest,” said Radford University President Bret Danilowicz. “This event will bring members of the university and city communities together with visitors and vendors throughout the New River Valley and beyond to celebrate our partnerships and enjoy a day of food, fun, and fellowship.”

Vendor spots are available for a fee of $50 for a 10×10 space, with a total of 70 spots offered on a first-come, first-served basis. Vendors are responsible for bringing their own tents, tables, and chairs. Designated vendor parking will be provided. Additionally, there is a discount code available for businesses within the City of Radford and on the university campus. Email studentlife@radford.edu to inquire about the discount code. Vendors can register for a booth at the University Ticket Hub: https://radfordactivities.universitytickets.com/w/default.aspx.
