Christiansburg Institute grad Emma Jones shares history with local Beta Sigma Phi chapter

Retired teacher and Christiansburg Institute graduate Emma Jones, pictured above, was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Christiansburg chapter of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. She shared historical facts about the institute as well as detailed information about the institute display at Christiansburg High School. Retired teacher and Christiansburg Institute graduate Erma Jones of Christiansburg was the guest speaker at the November meeting of the Alpha Mu Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She shared historical facts about the institute, which was founded after the Civil War and closed in 1966 when local schools were integrated. Jones shared a detailed history at the Christiansburg Institute Display at Christiansburg High School where many artifacts are on display. During her presentation, Jones quoted from the books “Facing Freedom” by David Thorp and “A Vision of Education” by Edgar A. Long.
