A Christiansburg High School baseball standout, Ethan Wayman, has announced plans to continue his playing career at Radford University.
“I chose Radford because it felt like home from the start. The coaches made me feel valued and I believe it’s the right place for me to grow as a player and a person,” he said on Sunday.
Wayman was 4-2 on the mound this past season with Christiansburg and batted .423 on the season. He was named second team all-River Ridge District at third base.
Following an incredible 2025 campaign (28-28), Radford University and Alex Guerra have agreed to a contract extension for the program’s head coach through the 2030 season.
Just finishing up his third, and likely most unique, season at the helm of the Radford Baseball program, Guerra continued the Highlanders rebuild to renewed heights with an impressive 2025 campaign that ended with the team’s first winning record since the 2021 season and first Big South postseason appearance since 2019.
The new Christiansburg commit will join other CHS alums in Mason Selfe and Clay Clatterbaugh.
Wayman said his main goal is to keep developing his game and contribute to the team’s success right away.
“I want to compete at a high level, keep improving every year, and help the (RU) program win championships,” he said.
Wayman plans to major in Sports Management.
