CHRISTIANSBURG – The New River Valley Home Builders Association (NRVHBA) has announced the opening of registration for the LEGO Home Building Contest, sponsored by Carter Bank, taking place at the 2026 NRV Home Expo Mar. 21 and 22 at the Christiansburg Recreation Center.
Kids and adults ages four and up from the New River Valley are invited to submit entries of their best custom home creation. The contest encourages creativity and design thinking at an early age, reflecting the NRVHBA’s commitment to inspiring future builders and fostering an interest in the construction trades, essential to developing our region’s skilled workforce. Legos are a lifelong creative outlet, and we are excited to once again accept entries from our adult Lego creators.
Best in Show winners will be chosen from among three age groups for the kid’s entries, and one from the 18 and up entries. The homes will be judged at the 2026 NRV Home Expo by NRVHBA member experts, receiving scores based on Overall Design, the Best Use of LEGO Elements, and the “Cool Factor” (overall creativity and originality). An award will also be given for the People’s Choice for both the younger and adult groups. Attendees at the NRV Home Expo will be invited to vote for their favorite entry. The top score in each age group will receive a LEGO gift card and the top three scores in each age group will receive a custom-made medal. Winners will be announced at the NRV Home Expo on Sunday, Mar. 22.
