Caldwell, Alta Janet Davis

Alta Janet Davis Caldwell, 84, of Christiansburg, passed away Wednesday, May 13, 2026. She was born in West Virginia Jan. 1, 1942, the daughter of the late Harper Otis and Mattie Collins Davis. She was a member of Christian Growth Center in Christiansburg where she was the bookkeeper. Her greatest wish was for others to know Jesus. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lonnie Richard Caldwell; son-in-law, Arthur Duarte; brother, Otis C. Davis; and sister, Betty D. Cox.

Survivors include her son, Richard Caldwell (Crystal); daughter, Lori Duarte; grandchildren, Eliot Caldwell (Brooklyn), Sofia Caldwell, and Michael and Daniel Duarte; sister, Elsie Sheppard; and many other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Christiansburg.

The Caldwell family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.
