Charles Roy Burton, 78, of Fairlawn died, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, at his home. He was born in Montgomery County, Va. on October 31, 1939 to the late John W. and Ruby Gray Burton. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers. He was a veteran of the US Army, as well as a member of the Rockford United Methodist Church.
Charles Roy and his brother Bill started Burton Contractors in 1975 and he ran the business until he retired in 2005. As all who knew and loved Charles Roy, he was an avid horseman who rode and trained horses. His passion was cuttin’ horses. He passed this love along to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sandra B. Burton; daughters and son-in-law, Rhodora and Bunchy Compton, Rhonda Burton; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Jada Burton; grandchildren, Jaclyn Forrester and husband, Brian, Brett Compton, Afton Gray, Caleb Duncan, Ty Burton and wife, Jordan, Anna Burton; five great-grandchildren; sister, Helen Hinkley; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Mary Burton; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Aug. 31, 2018 at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. T. Michael Bond officiating. Interment followed in Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg.
The family received friends prior to the service at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr SW Blacksburg, VA.
