Marilyn Bucci, 94, passed peacefully at her home in Christiansburg in the morning of Oct. 3, 2020.

She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph, with whom she shared 48 years of marriage.

Marilyn’s greatest pride and joy were her surviving children and their spouses, Paul and Nikki Bucci of Bethesda, Md.; Joseph and Susan Bucci of Tampa, Fla.; Melinda and Peter Read of Christiansburg; Daniel and Elizabeth Bucci of E. Stroudsburg, Pa.; Robert and Alison Bucci of Breinigsville, Pa.; Mary and Glenn Cotton of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and her 15 grandchildren and her 23 great-grandchildren.

Born in Bonham, Texas, on Mar. 8, 1926, Marilyn moved to Los Angeles at age 22 where she was employed by Fox Studios and, in 1951, moved east, married, and raised a family in northern New Jersey. She, her husband, and three children were surprised to learn in 1960 that there would be six children in the family. Marilyn was mother to the first set of triplets born in Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, N.J. After raising the family, Marilyn was employed by the Social Security Administration.

Marilyn’s favorite past times were Bible studies and researching important topics, like her father, Robert Dale Owen, whom she admired greatly. She will be remembered for her thirst for knowledge and her tenacity, perseverance and quick wit.

Due to COVID-19, memorial services for only the immediate family are planned.

In lieu of flowers, consider honoring Marilyn’s life with a gift to the Carilion Clinic Hospice – New River Valley, 701 Randolph St., Suite 110, Radford, VA 24141.
