Brey-Denbow, Magdalena

Magdalena Brey-Denbow, 94, formerly of Fayetteville, died in Radford. Born in Breman, Germany, she served in the Army Nurse Corp in France during WWII and graduated from Syracuse University.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Syracuse. She retired from Cazenovia Elementary School as school nurse teacher.

She was predeceased by her husbands, Ward Gardner, Rudolf Brey and Russell Denbow; and her sister, Wilma Sattelmeier. She is survived by her children, Amy (George) Bailey of Jersey Shores, Pennsylvania, Judy (Joe) Flickinger of Radford, Patricia (Phil) Dana of Holland Patent and Laurie (Bill) Harrington of Bridgeport; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2017 at the Christ Evangelical Church with Rev. Andrew Tucker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ Evangelical Church, 201 Harvey St., Radford, VA 24141; Pastoral Leadership Institute, P.O. Box 972, Wheaton, IL 60187; Concordia Seminary, 801 Seminary Place, St. Louis, MO 63105 www.csl.edu/give, or a local church or Salvation Army Post.

The Brey-Denbow family is in the care of Mullins Funeral Home and Crematory in Radford.
