Freda Virginia Bowman, 80, of Merrimac, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2020.
She was born on Feb. 6, 1940, to the late Garner C. Linkous and Evelyn Cupp Linkous. She was preceded in death by a son, David Bowman, and brothers Glenn and George Linkous.
She is survived by a son, Johnny W. Bowman; grandchildren Crystal Dillion and John, Johnny Bowman, Bradley Bowman and Jennifer, Jessica Jones and Jared; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way; a brother, Phillip Linkous and Melissa; sisters Faye Pack and Bill, Donna Cox and Winston Linkous, Jaunita Tolbert and Casey Williams, Deborah Nester and Jeffrey; several nephews and nieces, several great- and great-great nephews and nieces; many cousins; aunts Kathleen Linkous and Sylvia Linkous, and special friend Sherri Stacy. Thank you to the nurses and staff of Highland Ridge Rehab and Nursing Home and the activities department in Dublin, Va.
Visitation will be today, Saturday, Jan. 2, 2021, from 10 to 11 a.m. with religious service to follow at 11 a.m. with COVID-19 restrictions at the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Richard Hall will officiate. Interment will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
