Boundary adjustments considered for county, Blacksburg

Two local governments are discussing a boundary adjustment, which could ease current zoning issues.

The Town of Blacksburg and Montgomery County leaders discovered several conflicts earlier this year during planning for a couple large residential plans.

The boundary adjustment would pull several areas into the town.

Four areas, which would be adjusted, include a section in the northeast including parts of Bishop Road, Mount Tabor Road and Happy Hollow Road; a section in the east including parts of Grove Avenue, Elliot Drive, Myers Place, Rucker Drive and Mason Drive; a section in the southeast near South Main Street; and a section in the southwest including the Stroubles Ridge subdivision.

The agreement would correct errors and eliminate some situations where tracts of lane are split by the current corporate boundary.  Approximately 7.2 acres would be affected by the change. Both the Board of supervisors and Blacksburg Town Council were expected to vote on the matter this week. The agreement would take effect immediately after the vote by both governmental bodies.
