Jaylyn Holt wrapped up her volleyball career at Radford High School winning a Class 2 state title and has now announced plans to continue her playing career at Ferrum College.
Holt has been first team all-Three Rivers District and region 1C for the past two years. This season, she had 213 kills and 39 blocks. For her career, she had 785 kills and 194 blocks.
Recently, she was named the all-county/all-city co-player of the year.
Ferrum is a private college near Rocky Mount, Virginia and currently has an enrollment of 760 students. This year marked the beginning of Ferrum College’s official membership in NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas. Ferrum is the 16th member of Conference Carolinas, which includes six institutions from the state of North Carolina, five from South Carolina, three from Georgia, and one each from Tennessee and Virginia.
The Ferrum volleyball program is in the hands of Shelbylynn Adair, a former assistant at Virginia Tech. Adair was the Associate Head Volleyball Coach and Recruiting Coordinator at Virginia Tech for eight seasons from 2010-17, and assistant coach with the Hokies four seasons from 2006-10. She took over the Ferrum program in 2022.
Holt says chose Ferrum because of the small atmosphere and the reason it felt like home. She also chose Ferrum because of the volleyball coach.
“Coach Adair was amazing and was the deciding factor of why I chose Ferrum,” she said.
Holt plans to major in Criminal Justice and Horticulture.
