Blacksburg claims first ever Demon Invite

A new track at Christiansburg High School was officially christened Saturday with the first-ever Blue Demon Invitational. Blacksburg would take both the girls’ and boys’ titles.

Blacksburg’s Tiquest Terry won the high jump at the Blue Demon Invitational with a leap of six feet, two inches.

_ Auburn’s Jessica Musselman competes in the ladies’ finals of the long jump. When the dust had cleared, she finished sixth in the event.

Three local ladies vie for the finish line in a heat of the 100 meter dash: (from left): Emma Ryan (Eastern Montgomery), Antwanniquia Banks (Christiansburg) and Ana Czar (Blacksburg). Sarah Cornett of PH-Glade Spring would win the 100 with a time of 13.24.

Blacksburg finished with 134 points in the girls’ competition to finish ahead of Pulaski County (107) and Host-Christiansburg (66).

On the boys’ side of the track, Blacksburg racked up 176 points and blew away the competition as Christiansburg and Northside finished tied for second with 75 ½ points.

Tiquest Terry was a double winner for Blacksburg, winning both the high jump (6-2) and the 100 meters (11.07).

Christiansburg’s Ethan Mills won the boys’ 800 with a 1:54.01 mark, and then turned around and teamed with Alex Watty, Cooper Neeble and Trey Wilson to claim the 3,200 relay with a time of 7:54.51.
